Use of present participle as noun: Gerund

In English, present participle (verb ending in "-ing") can sometimes function as noun, particularly in cases where they refer to an activity or a state. present participle কখনও কখনও বিশেষ্য হিসাবে কাজ করতে পারে, বিশেষত এমন ক্ষেত্রে যেখানে কোনও ক্রিয়াকলাপ উল্লেখ করা হয়। এই ব্যবহারটি gerund নামেও পরিচিত।

For example:

Swimming is my favorite exercise. [সাঁতার আমার প্রিয় ব্যায়াম]

Cooking is an essential life skill. [রান্না একটি অপরিহার্য জীবন দক্ষতা।]

Swimming is fun. [সাঁতার কাটা মজা।]

In English, present participle (verb ending in "-ing") can also function as adjective to describe or modify nouns.

The glowing stars are so pretty. [জ্বলন্ত তারাগুলো অনেক সুন্দর।]
